Professional Tax Calculator
Professional tax is a state levy on monthly earnings, charged in flat amounts per slab rather than as a percentage. Because each state writes its own table, the same salary can attract very different amounts — and some states do not levy it at all.

Assumptions
- The tax is charged on gross monthly earnings, not on the PF wage or on taxable income.
- Where a state prescribes an annual cap, the annual figure shown is capped at it. The monthly amounts are shown as notified; how a shortfall month is adjusted in practice follows the state’s own return rules.
- Where a state charges a different amount in a particular month — Maharashtra’s February, for example — that is applied from the content store rather than hard-coded.
- Exemptions vary widely: senior citizens, persons with disability and parents of disabled children are commonly exempt, and are not modelled here. Only the women’s-earnings exemption is applied where a state prescribes one.
- Employers are separately liable for their own enrolment amount, which this calculator does not cover.
